Earlier today Kelly reminded me that it is, in fact, a three-day weekend; I’m looking forward to some extra down time for catching up. To wrap up your week, get Oh Land’s Pyromaniac stuck in your head, see out some James Bond tech come true, find out which muppet you are, peruse photos from Boston’s […]

For a bit of a Thursday throwback, we’re revisiting our 36-hour getaway to Portland, Maine last fall. When the house-buying drama was at its peak, and it was clear that everything was out of our hands, Jack and I decided to spend some time away from the room we were renting in the interim. A […]
Lately we’ve been spotting faceted, geometric shapes popping up in myriad places: textiles, home goods, jewelry, fashion, art, packaging, web design, type and everywhere in between. I’ve been keeping score on Pinterest, but it seemed high time to round up some examples of the genre here.
Last night, I had the pleasure of finally checking out relative newbie Gather with Elizabeth. The view of the ICA was lovely, the staff was delightful (thanks, Chris!), the chicken and waffles was excellent, and the lights…those lights!
Chances are, if you’ve ever been to our house, Jack has made you a drink. He’s my resident mixologist, my go-to margarita-maker, my provider of holiday punch, and he can whip up a liquor-less libation that doesn’t seem lacking, too. Quick, before you go: have a look at a stunning bit of branding that leaves me itching to uncover my pencils, vote for your favorite Impressionist pieces to comprise an upcoming exhibit at the MFA, peek at the inner bits and bobs of a Nest thermostat, ogle amazing photos of cities sans light pollution […]

Sebastião Salgado works in stunning black and white photography; Eyvind Earle’s serigraphs carry similar subject matter into bright, voluptuous interpretations. You can find more in Eyvind Earle’s portfolio, and […]
It all started with a tweet. hey @KZiegs – can you do this > http://t.co/WSAbuMGstT for me? you and @UJCreative have the best drinks in the best places xoxo, me — elizabeth swartz (@elizabethswartz) January 7, 2014 First off, we’re flattered; second, we realized we’ve been on a new-places hiatus since closing, and that seems […]
What’s cooler than cold? Ice cold. We are, of course, still working out the kinks in the house, and discovering all sorts of fun new challenges. To be clear, we were counting on this—but expecting the unexpected doesn’t make finding your kitchen pipes frozen solid any less frustrating. When the kitchen in our unit was […]
Jack and I are often blown away by the creativity, thoughtfulness and generosity of our friends and family—we are so grateful to have such wonderful people in our lives. We try our best to return the favor, but it would be hard for us to top the masterpiece that a dear friend brought us on New Years Eve: an anatomically correct gingerbread rendition of […]
