Pocket Planets

Jack and I spent part of Sunday riding out to Blue Hills, and then hiking to the summit. (To his credit, Jack would have preferred to ride to the top; I refused to make that climb on my fixie.)

It was unfortunately overcast, but the views were worth it anyway – it’s so good to see so much greenery back in our lives.

The vista also leant itself particularly well to a photo app I’ve been playing sporadically, Tiny Planet. In the city, horizons tend to be less even, so “planets” turn out a bit lopsided; from the tower in the Blue Hills Reservation, an even horizon was a piece of cake.

There is absolutely zero utility to this app – and, yes, I paid 99 cents for it anyway – but I’ve been enjoying using it on all manner of photos for intriguing results.

There are plenty of people using this app more creatively than I am, and you should check them out! Sunday’s heavily-wooded, sweeping views were predictable, but still fun.

What are your favorite – even if pointless – apps?
