Finding Fuchsia

We’ve long been obsessed with purple around here, and I embraced the Color of 2010 (turquoise) fully – but there’s a new color on the scene, popping up in interior design, fashion, beauty and even cars – and I have to admit, I’m rapidly becoming a fan.

Fuchsia gets its name from a flower of the same color, is sometimes called magenta and is making a big splash. Surprisingly easy to mix amongst the purples, teals and yellows that have been so ubiquitously paired with shades of grey recently, it’s making its debut everywhere from flooring (above) to nail polish and will definitely be a predominant pop on holiday palettes.

And, no, you are not alone in your propensity for misspelling – so common is the incorrect “fuschia,” Google suggests it as a search string and some spell-check programs (ahem, WordPress) don’t catch the error.

The following are just a few of the many, varied concepts in the trendy color – but by no means an exhaustive collection. What do you think? Would you give fuchsia a try in your home or wardrobe?
