Happy Friday! We’ve come across so many amazing things this week (whirlwind that it was!) that picking just a few fancy features for today was a tricky proposition. Many have been bookmarked for later, but here are a few for you to enjoy right this very moment.
I’m a rookie to the art of paper-cutting, but Joe Bagley – Joe is, in every sense of the word, a pro. Joe’s portfolio of architectural and nature-inspired pieces is stunning, but there’s a special place in my heart for the bicycle piece above, available through his Etsy shop. Check out more of Joe’s work, and keep up with his upcoming shows on his blog. (image credit: Joe Bagley)
Mammalampa features not only a fantastic name, but also a portfolio of amazing light fixtures. The Bride (top) is comprised of carefully woven paper, and evokes Rapunzel in both its pendant and floor lamp variations. I can only imagine that the light diffused through the paper layers would afford a beautiful, warm glow in a room. The Wise One (bottom) features a wedge of unfinished wood remaining on the side of the shade, cleverly encompassing the wiring for the fixture. These two are my personal favorites – but take a look at the entire Mammalampa repertoire and manifesto at their site. (image credit: Mammalampa)
Live Creating Yourself is Alaina Kaczmarski’s new-to-me blog featuring her musings on all things lovely – interiors, design, fashion, travel and a healthy sprinkling of miscellany. The quote inspiring her blog title – life is not about finding yourself; life is about creating yourself – is one of my personal favorites, and struck my fancy from the start. A graphic designer by trade, Alaina’s wonderful finds and passion for her work held my attention. Check her out! (image credit: Live Creating Yourself)
