A few months ago, I came across Megan Eckman’s ambitious project for 2013 when she illustrated the beard of Yellow Bird, Yellow Beard. The force behind Studio M.M.E., Megan was an illustrator in search of a challenge, which she took on in the form of committing to one portrait per day, for 365 days.
I was fascinated with watching Megan’s style change and develop as she shifted between media and got into the swing of her project. As requested, I sent her an email with a few shots of Jack and me, and received a note in thanks; this weekend, I got an email with a facebook link to a very familiar pair of faces.
If you follow me on twitter, you may have recognized this rendering as well: it’s currently my profile picture, and is the image Megan chose to recreate.
If you would like to participate in the Studio M.M.E. 365 Portrait Challenge, Megan is looking for additional faces to fill her calendar beyond August! Send your photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. According to the artist, “Solo photos work the best and the bigger your head, the better.” For more portraits throughout 2013, stop by the Studio M.M.E. blog.
Megan, thank you so much for your illustration! It made our day.
