What’s that, Boston? You’ve run out of Netflix to watch, and between fighting for the T and navigating avalanche conditions on the street, you never want to leave home again, but you need something to do when the ice pellets come this weekend?
Back in the pre-snow days, before the holidays even, we tackled a project that is simple enough to complete with half your brain (ahem, while watching Netflix), and lovely enough to gift when you see your friends again in July.
We made monogram mugs for our families for the holidays, and filled them with dulce de leche meringues and salted caramel pretzel brownies. I was skeptical of the technique – spelled out in full at Glued To My Crafts – but this Pinterest project was one that turned out beautifully and has been holding up well.
We used vinyl Helvetica letter stickers as our template, which peeled off cleanly and were reusable in a pinch. We bought our neighborhood restaurant supply store out of black mugs, and called upon our favorite holiday color scheme to fill out the spotted design around the letters using Sharpie’s oil-based paint markers.
May your mug always be full, and your snow days be fewer and fewer!
